The role
We are seeking a Head chef for a gastropub style eatery. As seasoned professionals our client has developed a steadily growing business and are looking for the right person with a self-starter attitude to join the business and play a creative part in managing and developing the kitchen and it’s offerings.  

This is very much a hands-on position. You would be responsible for the smooth, efficient and cost-effective running of the kitchen. Continuously pushing for increased performance and quality. In addition to your proven technical skills, you must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the possess the ability to lead effectively.

In addition to consistently producing and serving quality, fresh and interesting food to the customers your duties would include creating, developing and costing menus, and managing COGS to deliver the required profit margins.

About you
We are looking for a talented and committed senior chef who is proactive, with a proven track record and able to plan, organise, control and direct the work of the kitchen team, responsible for food preparation while ensuring superior quality and consistency.
  • Above average cooking skills
  • Passionate about cookery, products and produce
  • Communication skills | Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven successful KPI mgmt. | COG mgmt. | LC mgmt.
  • Menu development & costings | Inventory control
  • Kitchen management | Leadership
  • Kitchen Cleaning/Sanitation Knowledge
  • Food Safety Knowledge  
  • Systems oriented
  • Attention to detail
You  must have at least three to five years of previous experience in a kitchen leadership position and you must have strong people management skills. Additionally you must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand to be considered for this role.
