Newmarket retailer celebrates a miserable retail climate with a publicity grabbing crap sale!

Back to Retail Blog

Iconic jeans retailer, Route 66, is the second retailer to make news headlines recently through cheeky advertising

Like a number of retailers, Retailworld’s Auckland neighbours, Route 66, have had lower than usual sales this year. So in response they held a “Crap Sale” which certainly stopped shoppers in their steps.

To promote the stores crap sale, three of Route 66’s staff were sat on toilets, with their pants around their ankles, on one of Auckland’s busiest shopping strips, Broadway, Newmarket.

The marketing stunt certainly paid off, gaining the retailer national media coverage with a feature on Saturday’s 6’oclock News as well as a boost in sales.
