Key trends in the hospitality industry

Tourism Properties.com have put together some stats involving hospitality in late 2011.

International Visitor Arrivals until 18th December

Total visitor arrivals are up by 0.4% compared to the same four week period the previous year. Results showing increases: Singapore 22%, China 24%, Australia 3%, Malaysia 19%, Korea 4%. Decreses: Japan -23%, Canada = 6%, Germany -4%, UK - 10%, USA -5%

26.3% increase or an additional 45,783 visitors when comparing to September 2011 against September 2010.

3.3% decline in spending by international visitors to $5.6 billion for the year ending September 2011 when compared year ending September 2010.

16.8% increase or an additional 31,004 visitors when comparing October 2011, to Oct 2010

46.3% of respondents to TIA’s RWC 2011 post event survey considered the tournament period to be better or much better than the same period in 2010. 18.2% saw no change while 33.9% said it was worse or a much worse period for their businesses. 20% fewer overseas trips by New Zealand residents in September 2011 (16,400) than in September 2010 (210,000).

63.6% of respondentas to TIA’s RWC 2011 post event survey considered that RWC 2011 has had no effect on foreard booking for te 2011/2012 summer high season. 14.8% even considered it would have a negative or highly negative effect.
