This week Murray Crane, of Crane Brothers, has been the centre of much media attention surrounding the not entirely pc ‘Help Wanted’ advertisement he posted on his blog on the Crane Brothers website…
The job ad which can be viewed at http://www.crane-brothers.com/murray-crane-blog/110-help-wanted-.html stated that job applicants must be clean, non smoking and have good handwriting as well be able to put up with Murray’s constant moaning. Murray also pointed out he would be impressed by job seekers who “don’t text me: hey wassup how bout hookin up fr job intrvw and perhaps tell me that you had a paper round… as a child”. This ad created a talking point for several issues currently affecting the retail industry in NZ; particularly that employers advertising job vacancies are receiving a huge volume applications but very very few of these applicants are of the required quality.
